The Master Gunner badge, reimagined with a more realistic crossed musket and saber in a metallic finish.

Every element of the real badge points at a different branch: a saber for Armor, an 1795 Springfield musket for Infantry, a cannon for Field Artillery, and a missile for Air Defense Artillery — all inside a laurel wreath representing victory of the maneuver force. The upturned tab at the base stands for the advice and technical expertise master gunners give their commanders. Though the position itself goes back nearly 400 years, there was no badge for it until January 2018, and the final design wasn't approved until 31 January 2019 — made retroactive all the way to 1 October 1975.
