Until 2004 the Army wore the same diver badge as the Navy. That year it redesigned its own — adding sharks for stealth, speed, and power, and crossed Fairbairn-Sykes knives honoring OSS swimmers of WWII. It was the first time the two services' diving insignia told different stories.
