First activated in 1917, the 170th Infantry Brigade fought through Italy in WWII — Rome-Arno, the North Apennines, the Po Valley — and later took part in the liberation of Kuwait during the Gulf War. Its motto: "Strength, Honor, Discipline." The brigade's most recent posting was at Baumholder, Germany, from 2009 to 2012.
