Nicknamed the "Chargers," the 196th Infantry Brigade served in some of Vietnam's heaviest fighting — 1,188 killed and 5,591 wounded during its time there, part of what became the Americal Division. Today it trains soldiers as part of U.S. Army Pacific, based at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
