The 7th Army patch, paired with the Combat Infantry Badge, established in 1943 for infantrymen who personally fought in ground combat. Activated that same year under Lieutenant General George S. Patton, the 7th Army fought from the invasion of Sicily through France and Germany, later evolving into United States Army Europe.
