Created in 2001, the Combatant Diver badge marks completion of a brutal 35-day course in Panama City — 15 surface swims totaling over 60,000 meters, capped off with a 6.2-mile open-water swim on a buddy line, partners tethered arm's-reach apart the entire way. It's one of several courses required to earn a spot in Force Recon, alongside Airborne, SERE, and reconnaissance training.
