The EOD Basic badge paired with the ISoTF mark carried by much of the EOD community — known within the community by a blunt nickname: "Initial Success, or Total Failure." The badge itself took years to finalize: bomb disposal squads were renamed EOD in 1949, a design competition ran through Aberdeen Proving Ground starting in 1952, and the badge wasn't approved for wear until 1957.
