Announced on the Army's 244th birthday, June 14, 2019, the Expert Soldier Badge closed a real gap — infantry, medics, and Special Forces all had their own "expert" badge, but nobody else did. The pass rate has run around 10%. It can't be worn alongside the Combat Action Badge unless both were earned together, in which case a soldier qualifies for the Master Combat Action Badge instead. This is a custom-designed version of the badge with a more realistic knife and grenade.
