Every civilian bomb technician in the country certifies at the same place: the FBI's Hazardous Devices School at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama — the only facility authorized to train and certify public safety bomb techs nationwide. Established in 1971, it was jointly run by the FBI and the Army for 45 years until the FBI took full responsibility in 2016.
