The "Blackhorse" Regiment's crest, paired with the Combat Action Badge — created in 2005 to give non-infantry soldiers an official combat badge after decades of unofficial homemade versions. The 11th ACR earned its combat reputation across Vietnam, the Gulf War, and Iraq, and today trains the Army's soldiers as the official Opposing Force at Fort Irwin.
