Nicknamed "Sledgehammer," the 197th Infantry Brigade served under the 24th Infantry Division during Operation Desert Storm — but Gulf War veterans of the 197th still wear their own brigade patch as their combat patch, not the 24th's. Based at Fort Benning, it now trains infantry leaders.
