Activated October 1, 1941 in Hawaii — just 67 days before Pearl Harbor — the 25th earned its "Tropic Lightning" nickname for its aggressive fighting on Guadalcanal in 1943. Choose with or without the Airborne tab: the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), "Spartans," was one of only six airborne brigades in the entire Army and the only one stationed in Alaska, before being folded into the newly reactivated 11th Airborne Division in 2022.
