Nicknamed "Blue and Gray," motto "Twenty-nine, let's go!" — the 29th Infantry Division's 116th Regiment was part of the first wave ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day, supporting the Ranger assault on the beach's fortified strongpoints. The division went on to help seize Saint-Lô and fought through France, Holland, and into Germany.
