3rd Ranger Battalion's lineage traces to WWII's China-Burma-India theater and the Italian Campaign, deactivated and reactivated multiple times over the decades before being reconstituted in 1984 as part of the modern 75th Ranger Regiment. Today it's based at Fort Moore, Georgia, alongside the Regiment's own headquarters.
