The Air Force didn't have its own combat diver badge until 2022 — for 16 years, graduates of the Air Force Combat Dive Course simply wore the Navy's scuba badge instead. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Brown Jr. finally approved a distinct Air Force badge that year, recognizing PJs, Combat Controllers, and other Special Warfare Airmen trained for tactical insertion, extraction, and rescue diving.
