Earned at the Northern Warfare Training Center in Black Rapids, Alaska — home to a legendary civilian instructor nicknamed "Father Winter" — either through the 15-day Cold Weather Leaders Course or the shorter Cold Weather Orientation Course. The tab was redesigned in 2019 to match the arc shape of the Ranger and Sapper tabs.
