"Garryowen" is an Irish drinking song from a neighborhood in Limerick, Ireland — adopted by the 7th Cavalry in 1867 after General Custer heard his Irish troopers singing it and liked the cadence. Legend holds it was the last song played for his men before they rode off toward the Little Bighorn.
