Parris Island has trained Marine recruits since 1915 — the depot's mission motto is simply "We Make Marines." It's one of only two boot camp locations in the country, and the only one that trains women recruits. Thirteen weeks of transformation, and there's no guarantee of graduating — recruits who don't meet standards get sent home.
