The Expert Infantry Badge was created alongside the CIB on October 27, 1943, but tests tactical and technical infantry skills under field conditions rather than actual combat — and pays less too, $5 a month versus the CIB's $10. Paired here with the Air Assault badge, whose rappelling phase includes a controlled descent from a UH-60 Black Hawk hovering 80-90 feet up.
