Constituted in 1945, the 22nd Signal Brigade supported V Corps in Europe through the Cold War, Desert Storm, and Iraq before being inactivated in 2007. Its subordinate battalions included the 440th Signal Battalion — nicknamed "Road Runners," motto "Maintaining Contact" — which traced to 1942, served in WWII and Korea, and supported UN Suez Canal clearance operations in 1974. The brigade itself was reactivated in 2021 with an entirely new mission: providing communications support to I Corps in the Indo-Pacific theater.
