The Expert Infantry Badge was created alongside the CIB on October 27, 1943 — but earned differently. Where the CIB requires actual combat, the EIB tests tactical and technical infantry skills under field conditions, and pays less too: $5 a month versus the CIB's $10. Paired here with Airborne wings and the Air Assault badge, whose sling load phase involves rigging cargo to a hovering helicopter — a UH-60 Black Hawk can carry up to 9,000 lbs.
